The MMX4 Magnifier comes in a sleek, branded box that immediately sets the tone for quality and attention to detail. The box itself is wrapped in a protective sleeve featuring the Meprolight logo. Once you remove the sleeve and open the box, you’re met with the magnifier mounted on a plastic pedestal with a Picatinny rail.

Inside the box:

  • MMX4 Magnifier: mounted on a pedestal with a Picatinny rail.
  • Black and FDE Silicone Covers: to keep your magnifier protected and added customization.
  • Adjustment Tool Keychain: for easy adjustments.
  • Cleaning Cloth: to maintain your magnifier’s clarity.
  • Allen Wrench and 2 mount screws

Design and Build Quality

The design of the MMX4 Magnifier looks great. It features the subtle “M” or Meprolight logo on each side and on the flip mount. My unit is fitted with the FDE silicone cover and boasts an attractive two-tone finish with black, perfectly complementing my Tru-Vision red dot sight. The build quality of the MMX4 is top-notch, utilizing high-quality materials. The flip mount is solid, with no loose wiggles or rattles, and the QD (Quick Detach) lever secures it firmly to the firearm, with a nut on the other side to adjust clamping force. The mount itself is made of high-quality metal, and the FDE silicone cover helps reduce weight while providing excellent protection and easy customization. The glass is crystal clear, and the adjustment dials for up/down and left/right are firm yet smooth. Although they don’t have an audible click which isn’t critical for a magnifier as it is for a red dot or rifle scope.

Features and Technology

The MMX4 Magnifier is packed with features designed to enhance your shooting experience:

  • 4x Magnification: Extends the effective range of your red dot sight.
  • High Transparency Optics: Ensures a clear, crisp sight picture, enhancing target acquisition.
  • Quick-Detach (QD) Mount: Facilitates easy attachment and removal from the firearm.
  • Integrated Side Flip Adapter: Lets you flip the magnifier out of the way when not in use.
  • Adjustable Elevation and Windage: Provides precise alignment with your optic for optimal performance.
  • Durable Construction: Built to withstand harsh conditions, featuring a robust metal mount and protective silicone cover.
  • No Batteries Needed: Operates without the need for batteries, simplifying maintenance and usage.

Installation and Zeroing

Installing the MMX4 Magnifier is straightforward thanks to its Quick-Detach (QD) system. Simply set the magnifier on the Picatinny rail and flip the lever to securely mount it. When not in use, it can be flipped to the right out of the way. When needed, flip it back up, aligning it with your optic. There’s no zeroing required, but it does feature up/down and right/left adjustments if you need to center the red dot. In my case, it was centered out of the box, paired with my Tru-Vision.

Performance and Accuracy

Despite being “just” a magnifier, the MMX4 performed exceptionally well during live testing. The QD clamp never came loose, ensuring a solid mount to the firearm. The flip detents provided a firm hold, preventing any wobble during quick movements. The glass maintained crystal clarity, preserving an excellent sight picture. Although the picture is slightly smaller than the square Tru-Vision, it still allows for clear visibility at 100 yards approximately 25-30ft. Additionally, the lens minimizes glare effectively, ensuring a clear line of sight even in bright sunlight.

The MMX4’s silicone cover proved to be very durable, offering enhanced grip during use and protecting the magnifier from damage. The up/down and left/right adjustments were firm but smooth, allowing for easy centering of the red dot. The magnifier’s performance, combined with its ergonomic design, makes it a great companion to the Meprolight Tru-Vision. Overall, the MMX4 meets and exceeds my expectations in a magnifier.
