One downfall in my personal opinion is it doesn’t offer an optic cut which I think could really shine on this platform. It comes equipped with an accessory rail for the attachment of additional accessories. The trigger is tuned for optimal performance, providing a predictable and consistent pull.

Unboxing the WCP320 Compact

Upon unboxing the Wilson Combat WCP320 Compact, you’ll be greeted by a robust hard case bearing the Sig Sauer logo. Within the the case you’ll find, of course, the WCP320 Compact itself. Alongside it, is the factory Sig Sauer grip module & two magazines.

Among the main contents within the case, you’ll discover a collection of miscellaneous factory parts found in a bag that was changed by Wilson Combat. The Sig Sauer owner’s manual is also included, and if you lift up the foam on the bottom you’ll find a lock and key set. This thoughtfully assembled package ensures you have all the essentials to begin your journey with the Wilson Combat WCP320 Compact.

Overall Appearance

The Wilson Combat WCP320 Compact inherits the classic and ergonomic shape of the Sig P320, a platform appreciated by many enthusiasts. Notably, the dovetail pops right at you identifying the P320 platform, enhancing its overall aesthetics. While the Sig P320 offers various finishes, the Wilson Combat version is primarily available in black, which may limit some personalization options. But they do offer other finishes when purchasing a grip module (FDE, ect.).

Wilson Combat’s influence is evident in a few distinct features. Firstly, the Wilson Combat grip design, a signature element seen across their product line, sets this firearm apart and signifies its pedigree. The slide of the WCP320 also catches the eye with unique X-TAC pattern both at the front and rear, providing both functionality and aesthetics. Additionally, the slide boasts engravings, with “Sig Sauer P320” on one side and “Wilson Combat” along with their logo on the other. Finally, the straight trigger design adds a touch of sophistication, catering to those who appreciate this particular trigger style. Which I DO!

Grip & Ergonomics

When it comes to the grip, Wilson Combat has invested time and effort in optimizing the feel. This grip offers enhanced traction, smoother reloading, improved pointablity, and awesome recoil control. Additionally, the grip features aggressive stippling on the front and rear, complemented by the classic laser-engraved Wilson Combat pattern on the sides. As a result, this grip effortlessly conforms to the contours of your hand, offering a remarkable level of comfort and confidence.

Now, let’s compare this Wilson Combat grip to the factory Sig grip module. A visual assessment quickly reveals the distinctions. The factory grip tends to have a flatter and boxier shape. It’s worth noting that the original Sig grip initially drew me to the P320 due to its comfortable feel. However, Wilson Combat has taken that solid foundation of the P320 and elevated it. The Wilson Combat grip introduces curves and contours that significantly enhance ergonomics. It’s designed to fit snugly and comfortably in your hand, ultimately making it an ergonomic shooting machine.

Slide & Barrel

The first thing that catches your eye when examining the slide is the checkered or X-TAC pattern, as Wilson Combat calls it. When you grip the slide to rack it, this pattern offers an excellent grip that enhances performance while also providing an amazing look!

While it’s undoubtedly a well-performing component, it’s worth noting that for a performance version of the P320, the racking action could be a bit smoother. But being a polymer frame I cant be to picking on this. The spring tension is distinctly felt through the slide, which differs from the naturally smooth slides that hide this sensation. If you’ve experienced both, you’ll understand what I mean.

The slide houses a 3.9-inch barrel, and both the slide and barrel sport a black DLC coating. This coating not only adds to the overall aesthetics but also contributes to durability and resistance against wear and tear.

Trigger

This pistol houses a Grayguns P320 Competition Hybrid Trigger System for the SIG Sauer® P320, a drop-in enhanced trigger package with a competition sear designed to reduce trigger weight to as low as 4 pounds while preserving all mechanical safety values. It even includes a built-in over-travel adjustment. However, it’s important to note that this system is intended for competition or range use only.

In terms of the trigger’s overall feel, it’s quite good. There’s a noticeable wall, and the break is predictable, coupled with a reasonably short trigger reset. The one aspect that apprecate in a trigger is a crisp break which with the trigger upgrade and tuned action if iffers more of a soft break. However, the straight trigger design is a winner in my book. If it had a crisper break, it would be even more impressive.

Now, you ask what the trigger pull weight is? Well let’s conduct our traditional trigger weight pull test. We’ll take three readings and calculate an average. The first pull measures 3.63 pounds, the second 3.5 pounds, and the third 3.5 pounds as well. The upgraded trigger and tuned action create an impressive average of 3.54 pounds which aligns with that soft feel of the trigger.

Sights

The WCP320 comes equipped with Wilson Combat Battlesights, featuring a red fiber optic front sight. The rear sights do not have any dots present, but the front fiber optic sight is truly outstanding. It makes target acquisition a breeze and stands out vividly, making it easy for the eyes to catch.

Out of the box, the performance of these sights was exceptional. The Wilson Combat Battlesight combined with the fiber optic front sight creates a perfect pairing, complementing each other seamlessly. However, one thing that I wish Wilson Combat had included is an optic cutout. Given all the work put into this pistol, an optic cut would have been a fantastic addition in my opinion. It could have further enhanced the pistol’s performance by allowing for the addition of a red dot optic.

Features

Slide Stop: The slide stop is awesome. I love how much it extends out from the side, making it super easy to operate with just a flick of my thumb. Dropping the slide is almost effortless.

Mag Release: Another outstanding feature that caught my attention. I have a soft spot for extended factory mag releases or at least ones that protrude a bit, making mag swaps a breeze. The WCP320 accomplishes this perfectly, earning a huge thumbs up from me.

Picatinny Rail: The pistol features a 3-rail system on the front of the frame, providing a convenient spot to mount a light or laser. This not only adds a bit of personality and personalization to the firearm but also enhances its functionality, giving it a touch of flair.

At The Range: Live Fire

First impressions at the range were simply “WOW”. The firearm felt amazing in my hands, and the trigger was outstanding. The grip provided excellent control, making it easy to manage recoil effortlessly. The sights were dialed in perfectly, and during the first session, we encountered no issues at all. We used a combination of Mark 1 ammo and Sig Sauer 9mm, and the WCP320 ran flawlessly, running through about 300-400 rounds without a hiccup.

However, the second range day presented a slightly different story. The firearm still felt great, and accuracy remained top-notch, producing solid groupings at distances of 15-20 yards. However, we did encounter two failed ejections during this session, using Mark 1 ammo. It’s worth noting that we’ve never had issues with this ammo before, but it’s possible it was a bad batch or a weaker load. We won’t rush to blame the firearm just yet and plan to continue testing with other types of ammunition to provide a more comprehensive update.

Overall, I must say that this firearm truly shines at the range. Despite the two failed ejections with Mark 1 ammo, which might be an isolated incident, the WCP320 performed exceptionally well. It’s been an absolute joy to shoot, from the precision sights to the comfortable grip. I can’t help but think that an optic cut would have taken this already impressive firearm to another level, as it has the potential to perform exceptionally well with an SRO/RMR or a Holosun optic. I’ve had a blast with it, and I’m confident that the fun will continue.

Final Thoughts
