If you’re trying to find a gun safe that actually works for the average home, not a giant basement, man cave, or garage, the search gets frustrating fast. Most traditional safes are insanely heavy, hard to move, and nearly impossible to get up a narrow staircase or into a walk-in closet without turning it into a construction project.

That’s where the SecureIt Agile Model 52 Pro caught my attention as a potential contender for a lightweight rifle safe. On paper, it offers a lighter, more manageable option than a traditional safe, while still providing more security than a basic cabinet or locker. The real question is whether what looks good on paper actually translates to real world use and that’s what we’re here to find out.

Agile 52 Pro Overview

The SecureIt Agile Model 52 Pro is a lightweight, modular rifle safe built around SecureIt’s Agile storage system. Weighing in at 105 pounds, it’s significantly lighter than most traditional safes while still offering features you’d expect from a modern, secure storage solution.

The 52 Pro is designed to store up to six rifles and uses SecureIt’s CradleGrid™ system, which allows firearms and accessories to be organized vertically and kept separated rather than leaning against each other. This layout is intended to provide straight-line access to firearms while keeping the interior organized and easy to customize.

Access is handled through SecureIt’s HSFA (High-Stress Fast Access) locking system, which includes a keypad, biometric fingerprint reader, and mechanical override keys. The focus here is quick access without overcomplicating entry.

Design Background

The Agile platform traces its roots back to SecureIt’s work building armories for U.S. military units, including SEAL Team facilities in Little Creek. According to SecureIt, those same team members later requested similar storage solutions for their homes, which led to adapting their Model 84 military weapon rack into a smaller, modular safe designed for residential use.

That experience shaped the core priorities of the Agile series: security, adaptability, lightweight, and fast access applying lessons learned from military weapon storage to a more practical, user-friendly safe for everyday homes.

Key Features

Agile Modular System

Part of SecureIt’s modular storage lineup, the Agile 52 Pro can be stacked, expanded, and customized as storage needs grow, rather than being locked into a single fixed setup.

HSFA Fast-Access Locking

The HSFA system combines biometric fingerprint access, a keypad, and override keys, focusing on quick and simple access compared to traditional dial locks.

CradleGrid™ System

CradleGrid keeps rifles separated and organized instead of leaning together, allowing straight-line access, plenty of clearance for optics, and the ability to customize the layout to fit your gear and preferences.

Pro Model Accessories

The Pro version includes shelves, bins, dividers, door storage panel, hooks, and lighting, giving you a fully usable interior without the need for buying add-ons later.

SecureIt Agile 52 Pro Lightweight Rifle Safe

SecureIt Agile 52 Pro

Lightweight Modular Safe
Ultralight • Fast Access • Modular  •  CradleGrid System  •  Up to 6 Rifles

The SecureIt Agile 52 Pro is designed for real homes where a traditional vault doesn’t make sense. Lightweight, easy to place, and built around SecureIt’s CradleGrid system, it keeps rifles separated, optics protected, and layouts flexible for everyday use.

Unboxing the Agile 52 Pro

The Agile 52 doesn’t show up like a traditional welded safe, and that’s a good thing. Instead of a 400–800 lb monster that needs a team of movers and a dolly rated for NASA missions, SecureIt ships the agile in a compact flat-packed box. Because of this it does need to be assembled.

The box itself is around 120 lbs, and right away you can tell SecureIt didn’t skimp on protection. It’s packed with wood bracing, dense styrofoam, and bubble wrap everywhere. Nothing loose. Nothing rattling. Mine showed up with zero damage, no dents, no scratches and nothing bent.

Because it’s still 120 lbs in a single box, having a buddy help you bring it inside is definitely recommended. Inside the box you’ll find:

Agile Model 52 Pro (Main Box):

  • Safe door / front panel (pre-installed lock and keypad)
  • Louvered back panel
  • Left and right side panels
  • Top and bottom panels
  • CradleGrid rifle holders (6)
  • CradleGrid buttstock holders (3)
  • All required assembly hardware
  • 10mm wrench (included for assembly)
  • Instruction manual

Pro Model Accessories (Second Box):

  • Door organizer
  • Storage bins (multiple sizes)
  • Shelf & brackets
  • Dividers
  • Magnetic hooks
  • Interior light bar

Assembly

Assembly was super simple. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, honestly better than most furniture brands. The main safe took me about 25 minutes to put together, and once you’re past step two, the rest is basically self-explanatory and repetitive. All the hardware was there and some which is always nice in case you drop or lose a bolt or nut. SecureIt even includes the wrench, so only a Philips head is needed for assembly.

I did also have to get a 9v battery since one is not included for the key pad. Name brand batteries are recommended like Duracell or Energizer. If you don’t have a 9v present you can just plug the keypad in and use the default code to open the door or take the logo plate off to use the override keys. With nothing inside, opening the door will make the safe tip forward, which is expected for a lightweight design. That’s why I highly recommend anchoring it to the wall just a little more sense of security.

Once the safe was together, setting up the Pro accessories was easy. The louvered rear panel (CradleGrip system) makes layout setup and changes simple, the door organizer fit perfect leaving access to the battery door, and the shelves, trays, and dividers dropped right in. It’s size isnt to big or to tall can still fit through the average doorway fully assembled.

Build Quality & Experience

Once assembled, the Agile 52 Pro feels solid. There’s no wobble, no rattling, and the panels lock together tighter than you’d expect from a modular safe. The door is the heaviest part of the safe and feels well built, which adds a sense of confidence every time you open or close it.

The keypad and fingerprint system both worked without any issues. Setting a passcode is quick and simple opening the access door on the inside of the safe door revealing a red button and then following the steps. There are 3 passcodes to set then come from the factory with default codes so I do recommend changing all 3 (manager code, user 1 and user2). Fingerprint setup was pretty similar using the red button and following the directions. In terms of quick-entry storage, it delivers. Getting into the safe is smooth and intuitive especially with the fingerprint entry.

It’s also important to be clear that the Agile 52 Pro is not fire rated. This isn’t a 1,000-pound, fully welded, insulated vault, and it’s not trying to be. The tradeoff is lighter weight, more compact footprint, and faster access, which is exactly the balance this safe is designed around.

SecureIt does offer fire-rated safes for those who prioritize fire protection, but they come with the expected increase in weight and size [CLICK HERE FOR FIRE RATED SAFES]. For what the Agile 52 Pro is intended to do, it does its job very well.

How Secure Is It?

Security with the SecureIt Agile 52 Pro is all about realistic use, not extremes. It is significantly more secure than a basic gun cabinet or locker. The steel construction, solid door, and HSFA locking system provide a meaningful level of protection for everyday home use.

Because it’s lightweight, I feel anchoring the safe is critical not needed but it’s smart to do. Once secured to the wall, it’s not going anywhere easily. The fast-access lock, combined with proper mounting, makes it a solid deterrent against unauthorized access while still allowing quick entry when you need it.

If your priority is maximum fire protection or long-term vault-style security, this isn’t the right tool. But for someone who wants fast controlled access, customized organization, and a safe that actually fits almost anywhere in the house, the SecureIt Agile 52 is a no brainer.

Overall Rating

Security 4.4 / 5

For what it’s designed to be, the security is solid. It’s a clear step above cabinets and lockers, especially when anchored properly. It’s not vault-level, but it’s also not pretending to be.

Build Quality 4.5 / 5

Once assembled, the safe feels sturdy with no wobble or rattling. The door is the heaviest part and feels well built but can tip the safe if not much is inside. The overall construction is better than you’d expect from a modular, lightweight design.

Assembly & Setup 4.8 / 5

Assembly and setup were quick and painless. The instructions were clear, all hardware was included plus some, and SecureIt even provides the wrench needed, so all you need on your end is a Philips head screw driver and a 9v battery. The main safe went together in about 25 minutes, and setting up the Pro accessories was just as easy thanks to the CradleGrip Design.

Access & User Experience 4.8 / 5

Fast access is where this safe really shines. The keypad and fingerprint system work smoothly, setup is simple, and entry is quick without feeling cheap or gimmicky. It’s perfect for day to day use, which is exactly what this type of safe should prioritize.

Modularity & Value 4.9 / 5

The CradleGrid system and Pro accessories make organization easy and easily customizable. Everything fits cleanly, layout changes are simple, and the Pro package includes pretty much everything you need from the start. For what you get, the value is strong if you’re specifically looking for a lightweight, quick access safe.

Final Score: 4.6 / 5

Final Thoughts

The SecureIt Agile Model 52 Pro isn’t trying to replace a massive, fire-rated vault, and that’s exactly why it works. It fills a gap that a lot of people actually have, a safe that’s lightweight, practical, and realistic for everyday homes where moving or placing a traditional safe just isn’t an option.

What stood out most is how easy it is to live with. Assembly and setup are simple, access is fast, and the modular interior actually keeps everything organized instead of turning into a pile of rifles and gear. When anchored properly, it offers security that sits well above a cabinet or locker while still being perfect for day to day use.
